New jack swing was a musical offshoot mixing elements of r&b, hip hop, soul and pop. It was too short lived in my opinion. Highlights were new edition, bobby brown solo, bell biv devoe, johnny gill, guy, ralph tresvant...even michael and janet jackson injected a little new jack to their music.
